JOHN LEE HOOKER: Where it all Continued

In In April 2008, I came across a photograph of John Lee Hooker in the newspaper.

This set off what I referred to as the Great Pencil Project. I decided to draw for at least 1/2 an hour each day, in pencil, for one year, to see what would happen.

It's a fact that if you do any one thing every day for a year, even for just a few minutes, your life will begin to lean in that direction.

On a grander scale, the people we admire, who enlighten and entertain us throughout our lives, are those who have dedicated a lifetime of every days to one thing.

I am not such a person. And this reminds me of a story.

I was at work one day, writing a report fueled by a Van Morrison CD. A co-worker came in and said, 'What's that?' I said (astonished) 'Van Morrison'. He said, 'Who's Van Morrison?' and I realized he might have meant, literally, 'What's that?' and not 'Who's that?' He went on to tell me that he never really listens to music. It's just not something he was ever interested in.

It had never occured to me before that such a condition could exist. Unless you were deaf, why would you ever live without music?

On this subject, a movie worth seeing is It's all Gone, Pete Tong
